map, tracklog, gpsFoto, gpsBabel, for reference.
posting for reference and the inhabitants of the server-wg. after some (homesick?) puttying i got the necessary perl modules installed ( perl -MCPAN -e “install Chocolate::Belgian” )to use gpsPhoto.
i also installed gpsbabel to convert magellans sd-card gps files to gpx. this goes like:
gpsbabel -i magellan -f 2006-02-24 -o gpx -F 2006-02-24.gpx
after that you can use gpsBabel to write the positions into the exif data. this goes like:
perl gpsPhoto.pl –dir galleryfotos/albums/india/ –gpsfile tracklogs/2006-02-11.gpx –maxtimediff 2500
you see, i hat to raise the maxtimediff to something quite raw. almost an hour. the reason for this is that my tracklog was not detailed enough. i found some option and i hope the following logs will be more ‘to the point’.
then you can ‘edit photo’ in gallery and click on ‘get from exif’ e voila, there should be a pin on the map.
i didn’t figure out if there is a way to kind of ‘draw a track’ on the google map. the api has it, but how do you do it with galerys google map module? i think i won’t find out while i’m in india:)
ps: to check the variance:
